FuelTrain provides general educational information, not medical advice. We use recognised UK public-health sources, avoid guaranteed results and clearly separate estimates from facts.
There is no single compulsory exercise. Beginners benefit most from learning a small group of movement patterns with equipment that feels stable and easy to control.
1. Six useful movement patterns
Choose one exercise from each group and practise it consistently.
- Squat: goblet squat or leg press
- Hinge: Romanian deadlift or cable pull-through
- Push: chest press or incline push-up
- Pull: seated row or lat pulldown
- Single-leg: split squat or step-up
- Core: plank, side plank or dead bug
2. Machines or free weights?
Both can work. Machines may feel easier while learning because the movement path is controlled. Free weights can be introduced gradually when you are comfortable.
3. Technique before load
Use a range of motion you can control, breathe normally and stop if you feel sharp pain, dizziness or unusual symptoms. Ask a qualified professional for help when needed.
